February often arrives with a softness that feels very different to January.

There is still winter outside, but the days begin to lengthen ever so slightly and homes start to feel ready for gathering again.

I think February is one of the loveliest months for entertaining because it encourages intimacy rather than scale.

Small suppers, candlelit lunches and slow Sunday gatherings all feel especially meaningful at this time of year.

Flowers for a Romantic February Table

Romantic does not need to mean overly polished or predictable.

I prefer arrangements that feel gathered, textured and slightly undone.

Some of my favourite flowers for February include:

  • Tulips

  • Ranunculus

  • Anemones

  • Early blossom branches

  • Sweet peas (towards the end of the month)

  • Waxflower

Rather than arranging flowers symmetrically, I like to create movement down the centre of the table using clustered bud vases, layered greenery and candlelight.

My Approach to Tablescaping

A beautiful table is really about atmosphere.

Some of the details I always think about include:

  • Layered linens

  • Mixed antique glassware

  • Soft lighting

  • Seasonal ingredients displayed naturally

  • Relaxed place settings

  • Flowers that never block conversation

One of the easiest ways to elevate a table is by using texture rather than colour.

Linen, stoneware, wood and aged brass instantly create warmth and depth.

Seasonal Country Home Styling

At this point in the year I begin introducing small signs of spring indoors.

This might include:

  • Blossom branches in hallways

  • Botanical prints

  • Lighter fabrics

  • Fresh herbs in the kitchen

  • Rearranging shelves with collected objects and ceramics

Homes should never feel over-designed.

The most inviting interiors always tell a story about the people living in them.

Workshop Inspiration for 2026

One of my favourite things about creative workshops is bringing people together around a shared table.

This year I am planning a collection of seasonal creative days inspired by flowers, interiors and countryside entertaining.

Future workshop themes may include:

  • Spring tablescaping

  • Seasonal flower arranging

  • Styling a country kitchen

  • Creative hosting and entertaining

  • Autumn wreath making

  • Christmas table styling

  • Christmas wreath making

I want these workshops to feel immersive, inspiring and genuinely restorative.

Final Thoughts...

In a world that often feels rushed, there is something deeply special about setting a thoughtful table and inviting people to slow down together.

There is always a strange stillness after Christmas.

The decorations come down, the house suddenly feels bare, and January stretches ahead with its quiet mornings and dark afternoons. Yet I have always believed this can be one of the most beautiful times to reset a home.

Rather than rushing into organisation or dramatic change, January is an opportunity to soften the atmosphere indoors and create spaces that feel calm, warm and restorative.

At this time of year, I naturally move towards texture and simplicity.

Bowls of moss gathered from the garden, simple branches in large ceramic vases, candlelight at supper and the first paperwhites or narcissi on the kitchen table instantly make a house feel alive again.

Winter Flowers I Love in January

Some of the most elegant flowers are the quietest ones.

My favourite seasonal stems for January include:

  • Paperwhites

  • Narcissi

  • Hellebores

  • Snowdrops

  • Viburnum

  • Pussy willow

  • Eucalyptus

I love arranging them loosely and naturally — never too structured. A winter arrangement should feel as though it has just been gathered from a frosted garden.

For larger spaces in country homes, branches are often more impactful than flowers themselves. Tall willow or birch stems instantly bring height, movement and a sense of nature indoors.

Creating a Winter Tablescape

January entertaining is rarely about extravagance.

Instead, it is about intimacy.

A beautiful winter table can be incredibly simple:

  • Linen tablecloths in soft oat or charcoal tones

  • Taper candles in varying heights

  • Moss-lined bowls

  • Seasonal greenery

  • Stoneware or antique ceramics

  • A scattering of nuts, pears or winter citrus

The most inviting tables always feel layered and lived in rather than overly styled.

Interiors for the Winter Months

This is also the season where lighting becomes everything.

I often encourage clients to rethink lamps and smaller pockets of light rather than relying solely on overhead lighting. Pools of warm light instantly create atmosphere.

Winter is also the perfect moment to introduce:

  • Heavy linen or velvet cushions

  • Textural throws

  • Earthy paint colours

  • Handmade ceramics

  • Natural wood tones

  • Vintage furniture pieces

Country homes feel their best when they evolve naturally through the seasons rather than remaining static all year.

Upcoming Workshops

This year I will also be introducing a series of intimate seasonal workshops focused on flowers, tablescaping and creative hosting.

These gatherings will celebrate the beauty of slowing down, creating with nature and learning to style homes in a more instinctive and seasonal way.

Final thoughts...

January does not need to feel empty after Christmas.

Sometimes the quietest season creates the most beautiful interiors of all.

Our approach to selling homes for sale to get noticed over other properties is a thoughtful and meticulous process. If you feel that your property isn’t getting as many viewings as you would like, then it might be time to have a look at our staging formula, unlocking the potential of your home using our specialist staging services, just for you and your unique home.

Our Process is simple…

Step 1. UNDERSTANDING YOUR DREAM BUYER– The Knowledge

Before marketing your home, it’s essential for you and your agent to understand who will be most interested in your property. Are you targeting young professionals looking to move out of London, or families searching for their forever home with a spacious layout and a large garden? Knowing your ideal buyer can make the preparation process much easier. If you don't have a clear understanding of your target audience, your images, descriptions, and brochures may not attract the best potential buyers.

Step 2. Vision & Clarity

Can potential buyers quickly understand what your home has to offer from your online listing? When it's your own home, it can be challenging to assess this. Many times, I've seen homes that look unimpressive in photos but are stunning in person. If you are preparing your home for sale yourself getting it to look presentable, your images should highlight your home in its best light and entice buyers to schedule a viewing. If you're unsure about your listing, consider asking a friend who isn't familiar with your home to review it online and share their impressions with you. Or even better give us a call, we can give you advice or support you fully in the process. It's always best to have a clear vision, clarity and plan in place

Step 3. THE SECRET STUFF – Styling & Staging

Understanding your target market that you wish to attract will make styling your home easier. It’s essential to remember that prospective buyers are not simply in the market for an empty shell, they are seeking the experiences and lifestyle that your home can provide for them and their loved ones. Many buyers want a turn-key move in, sit down and put the kettle on experience, no hard work, simple move in and begin life. There are plenty of buyers out there who are willing to pay a premium price for that luxury.

Our approach and our secret to getting the right attention for viewings is all about creating positive pockets of inviting atmospheres by showcasing the various aspects of life within your home and how it can be used.

For instance, set the scene of enjoying a glass of wine on the patio, where you can unwind while watching the sunset.  Or a simple quiet moment in the morning sitting at the breakfast table over a warm cup of coffee and croissant, as you take in stunning views, inspiring your day. It's all about setting the scene, drawing in on a buyers senses, imagination and emotionally connecting to the home, helping them to fall in love with it and imagining themselves living there.

Step 4. Knowing your client & buyers needs

If both the Estate Agent and Stylist work together to understand the interested buyer’s needs, their checklist of desirables, and understand who is most likely to want to buy the prospective home, you have a better chance of marketing it in the correct way. Drawing the right people in, whilst simultaneously aligning the right buyer to a dream home match, saving everyone's time and energy.  Sometimes thinking outside the box is critical to get things moving, for example, if there is an ideal buyer but you know they may might be concerned about the size of the kitchen, the agent should be prepped with all the possible options for buyers to change it. Knowing the buyers inside out is a critical skill and will consistently lead to higher sale prices in a quicker time. Whilst reducing valuable time in the process.

Step 5. A Fresh take on Photography

Are your photographs current? It’s important to ensure that they accurately represent the season and condition of your property. With the influx of new homes on the market, buyers tend to gravitate toward recent listings, often overlooking those that have been available for longer. To enhance your listing and attract more interest, consider updating your photos to reflect a fresh and inviting image that stands out. This way, you can effectively combat being overlooked and present your property in the best light possible. If your house isn't on the market but you're about to enlist an Estate Agent, always look at how other listings are photographed and how professional and appealing they look, so that you can decide if the photography will present your home in the best way. Think magazine perfection.
