There is something wonderfully hopeful about May.

Gardens suddenly feel alive again, evenings stretch longer into golden light and homes naturally begin opening outwards towards the garden. It is the season where indoor and outdoor living begin to blur beautifully together.

I have always believed May is one of the loveliest months for styling a home because nature provides so much inspiration already. Flowers become softer and more abundant, tables feel more relaxed and gatherings take on an effortless quality that is difficult to recreate at any other time of year.

At this point in the season, I find myself wanting everything to feel lighter, more natural and less overcomplicated.

Seasonal Flowers I Love in May

May flowers carry such romance and movement.

Some of my favourites include:

  • Peonies

  • Lilac

  • Cow parsley

  • Garden roses

  • Late tulips

  • Alliums

  • Clematis vines

  • Sweet rocket

I love arranging flowers loosely so they feel freshly gathered from the garden rather than formally designed. Often the most beautiful arrangements are the simplest ones — a handful of peonies in a ceramic jug or blossom branches placed casually on a hallway table.

At this time of year I especially enjoy combining flowers with natural foliage and herbs. Mint, rosemary and trailing greenery instantly make arrangements feel softer and more seasonal.

Creating a Relaxed Outdoor Table

Outdoor entertaining in May should never feel overly polished.

The beauty comes from atmosphere.

Some details I always return to include:

  • Linen tablecloths in soft neutral tones

  • Terracotta pots filled with herbs

  • Mismatched antique glassware

  • Candles and lanterns for evening light

  • Seasonal flowers arranged naturally along the table

  • Large sharing platters of food

One thing I always encourage is embracing imperfection.

Windblown candles, flowers moving in the breeze and relaxed styling often create the most memorable evenings.

Bringing the Garden Indoors

As the season changes, I think homes should evolve alongside it.

In May I love:

  • Fresh flowers in every room

  • Open shelving styled more lightly

  • Natural woven textures

  • Linen upholstery and tablecloths

  • Garden cuttings in oversized vessels

  • Open windows and softer fabrics

Even small seasonal changes can completely shift the atmosphere of a home.

Upcoming Workshops & Creative Gatherings

One of the things I love most about this season is gathering people together creatively.

Spring and early summer workshops feel especially inspiring because people are naturally craving beauty, creativity and connection.

This year I will be sharing more seasonal workshops focused around:

  • Flower arranging

  • Tablescaping

  • Creative hosting

  • Styling homes seasonally

  • Gathering inspiration from nature

I want every workshop to feel immersive, thoughtful and deeply restorative.

Final Thoughts...

May reminds us that beauty often lies in the simplest things.

A garden table, fresh flowers and good company can transform an ordinary evening into something unforgettable.

Easter has always felt like one of the gentlest celebrations of the year.

Unlike Christmas, there is less pressure and more room for simplicity.

It is a season centred around spring itself — longer lunches, garden flowers, fresh food and gathering people together.

Creating an Easter Table

I always think Easter tables should feel abundant but relaxed.

This might include:

  • Bowls of lemons or artichokes

  • Linen napkins tied with ribbon

  • Moss and seasonal greenery

  • Clus

  • large table centrepiece using a rustic planter, with white and yellow flowers such as daffodils and tulips, with moss dotted around and long tapered candles placed, making for an incredible wow factor table piece and talking point for guests.

March is the month where everything begins to wake up.

Gardens slowly soften, blossom appears overhead and homes naturally start to feel lighter.

After the heaviness of winter, I always find myself craving freshness indoors.

The Beauty of Seasonal Spring Flowers

Spring flowers have an ease and delicacy that feels impossible to replicate at any other time of year.

Some of my favourites include:

  • Blossom branches

  • Fritillaries

  • Muscari

  • Tulips

  • Hellebores

  • Sweet peas

  • Daffodils

  • Cow parsley later in the season

I especially love combining structured flowers with something wild and airy.

A vase of tulips instantly becomes more interesting with twisting blossom branches or trailing foliage.

Refreshing Interiors for Spring

Spring interiors should feel breathable.

This is the time of year I begin:

  • Swapping darker textiles for lighter linens

  • Introducing natural greens and softer neutrals

  • Opening shelves and reducing visual clutter

  • Bringing flowers into every room

  • Styling entrances with seasonal branches and pots

One of the simplest ways to refresh a country home is by introducing scent.

Fresh herbs, narcissi and hyacinths instantly make spaces feel connected to the garden again.

Styling a Spring Table

Spring entertaining is all about looseness and light.

I love:

  • Layered white linens

  • Handmade ceramics

  • Delicate glassware

  • Garden-inspired flowers

  • Simple seasonal ingredients

  • Natural textures such as rattan or wood

  • introducing more pastel-inspired coloured flowers

A spring table should feel joyful and effortless.

Why Seasonal Living Matters

One thing I have become increasingly passionate about is helping people reconnect with the seasons inside their homes.

When we style our homes according to the natural world outside, spaces feel calmer, more grounded and more personal.

Even small changes — a bowl of blossom, fresh herbs in the kitchen or candles at supper — can shift the atmosphere entirely.

Final Thoughts...

Spring reminds us that homes do not need constant reinvention.

Sometimes they simply need to breathe alongside the changing season.
